What is a passive electronic lock?

KENRONE passive electronic lock is a battery-free locking system developed for reliable cloud security access control. It does not rely on built-in power inside the lock body, and depending on the product design, unlocking power is supplied by an electronic key.

Does the lock body need a battery ?

No. There is no built-in battery inside the lock body. Power is supplied by the electronic key during unlocking.

How does the electronic key power the lock?

The electronic key has contact points. When it touches the electronic lock core in the lock, it provides temporary power and completes the unlocking process.

Can one key manage multiple locks?

Yes. KENRONE passive electronic locking systems are designed so that one authorized electronic key can manage multiple locks, making them suitable for applications that require centralized lock control.

Can a KENRONE electronic key open all locks? Is it a master key?

No. A KENRONE electronic key is designed only for authorized KENRONE passive electronic lock systems. It cannot be used to open other brands of mechanical locks, standard smart locks, or other non-compatible locks.

Is it suitable for outdoor cabinets?

Yes. Our passive locks are designed for outdoor and distributed cabinet applications, with good water resistance and suitability for demanding environments.

Can access permissions and unlocking records be managed by software?

Yes. KENRONE systems support software-based authorization, user management, and unlocking records. Depending on the product, management may be available through PC software, mobile apps, or both.

What software is required?

Is it suitable for retrofit projects?

Yes. Our passive locks are designed to replace existing mechanical locks more easily. Their dimensions are similar to many common mechanical lock types, and the installation method is also similar, helping simplify installation and shorten retrofit time.
